A TRIBUTE TO INNOVATION & TRADITION IN ALKMAAR
On Tuesday evening, July 29, Richard Brandwijk, CEO of Egmond Plastic, had the special honor of ringing the cheese bell at the Alkmaar cheese market—a ceremonial moment that officially opens this historic market.
This recognition is more than just symbolic: it is a tribute from the municipality of Alkmaar to people and organizations that play a prominent role in the region. We are therefore proud that Egmond Plastic—as a sustainability leader in plastic injection molding solutions—was honored in this way.
The Tuesday evening market takes place only a few times a year and attracts visitors from both home and abroad. It is precisely then, amid centuries-old tradition and contemporary innovation, that it feels all the more special for a local business to be in the spotlight—both literally and figuratively. After the cheese bell rang and an interesting guided tour, Richard was asked if he dared to wear a cheese beret. He gladly accepted the challenge! And…with success and enjoyment.
Thank you to the City of Alkmaar and Councilman Christian Schouten for this wonderful invitation. And, of course, kudos to all the cheese carriers, volunteers, and visitors who keep this cultural heritage alive!
